Total Health Concepts’ Denver Dispensary – New Website

November 28, 2009 by Marc 1 Comment

This is my non-traditional site of the season. Recently a client asked me if I might do for a their new legal medical marijuana dispensary what I had done for their other businesses’ internet marketing efforts. (Yep, it is legal in Colorado, has been since 2000.) Looking to learn something new and keep the client happy I said yes.

Specifically they wanted an economical website, one that they could manage themselves. More importantly it needed to have superior search engine marketing potential while moving far away from the “classic” look still presented by many similar businesses. Total Health Concepts (THC) wanted a “clean, unique, healthy mainstream professional” look to the website that would reflect well on their new Denver area medical dispensary. Their business goal is to seek a competitive advantage in everything they do.

Because they wanted easy do-it-yourself interface for adding new content, articles and upgrades combined with “best of class” search engine marketing the site foundation would be WordPress. But what would it look like?

After spending a lot of time learning and understanding this business category’s marketing language, standards and rules and exploring the look and performance potetial competitors’ websites, this is what we created to meet the needs of Total Heath Concepts online marketing and strategy for the new dispensary.

Still some detail work to do, but I am pleased to say the owner is happy with the look, plus it is getting good reviews and comments from others in the same industry. I like the almost instant Google indexing that we were able to get for a brand new domain name. (WordPress combined with certain webhosts makes a huge difference in getting a new website into the Google index.) The site is now getting content and products added by the staff as they are getting ready for grand opening of Total Health Concepts new Denver dispensary in early December.

Temporary Landing Page for SEO Jumpstart

September 12, 2009 by Marc 4 Comments

It will often take a month or two or more after you get your domain name before you will have your final website. And it is not unusual for another month our two after that before your site is indexed. But as I have written before you can use that time to get your domain well indexed in search engines and even test some of your content.

Rather than let your hosting company leave up its standard “under construction” or “coming soon” default page or an image of your logo, put up a simple WordPress blog with just a post or two of your basic content and a little about your business and contact info. This will shorten the time until it is indexed and greatly improve your site’s search recognition.

TECH 5 temp landing page

Recently (today) I took some time and did just this for a friend and his new telecommunications company, TECH 5.

His logo was done and he asked if I could replace the standard Network Solutions “coming soon” page with his new logo. I went a little further, I installed WordPress, uploaded the Atahualpa theme and a few plugins (cforms, All-in-One SEO and Google XML Sitemaps). Then added the logo and some content (that they already had put together for the new business) and voila … a temporary landing page that announces the new business with some major SEO mojo.

Admittedly it is not as pretty as the finished website will be, but it puts all the needed info out there right now in an easy to modify format, SEO optimized and it will make sure that the final website, when it is done, will enjoy as strong as possible search results from its first day on the domain.

If you have any questions feel free to send an email or leave a comment.

Below is an email I received on August 23, 2009 from Scott Richardson, a sports action photographer located in Indiana. (shared with Scott’s permission)

Marc,

I’d like to take a minute to thank you for your work on the Kertesz web site package.  The SEO aspects of it are outstanding.  My web site consistently rates in the top 3 (if not THE top listing) using the following generic Google searches for my market area:

  • indiana sports photography
  • indiana sports photographer
  • hancock county sports photography
  • hancock county sports photographer

I even got a hit on my page from the search term “good sports photography”!

Thanks again,

Scott

A Client Shares – How Our WordPress Based Websites Actually Increased His Business

July 27, 2009 by Marc Leave a Comment

Don Samples of Midnight Magic Videography in Knoxville TN just sent me a note recounting his satisfaction and success from using our website. I really like that we were able to help his success, but before I share his experience I need to tell you a little about how we began.

About five months ago Don had us replace his old style HTML based website with our new Kertesz WordPress based basic website. Don’s primary goals in doing this were to increase his business by improving his internet presence and marketing and believed that our site could do that for him. He saw that our sites offer proven marketing potential and at the same time are easier to manage, look good and he can easily modify and add content as wanted. His total cost was less than $300.

I hope after reading Don’s letter below you will consider letting me help you.

Now here are Don’s own words about using our website for the last few months -

Hey Marc,
I have been meaning to send this to you for a while now, but I have just been so busy. The web site you helped me with is working so wonderfully. I am getting about 10 to 15 hits a day on average. I am getting calls left and right for bookings. Two of my competitors have even told me that my site rocks. But the best complement I got was about a week ago when I bride said she read my web site and asked if I could shoot her wedding. I was booked for the day she wanted and she told me that she felt that with the information I provided her on the web site she could find someone she would feel good about.

My previous site got very little results. Most times I would get a phone call from a prospective bride they would always ask for a demo video, what do I offer, and on and on. Basically, when brides called they asked the questions the site didn’t answer, which was everything. Now, when I get calls, it is to ask if I am available for a date. The calls are good quality leads. The site has given my business an air of professionalism. I put trailers on my site after almost every wedding. The brides love this as they can see some of their video right away. My old site didn’t have the ability to post video. As a video business, it is so important that brides can see what I do.

The week the site went live, I noticed the change in calls and contacts. My competitors in the area all called me and commented on the site. But the best part of it was the fact that they all changed their sites to look like what I have put up.

I have gotten calls and emails from brides who have told me that the information I have put on my site have helped them change their mind about choosing a videographer for their wedding. It also helped them ask the right questions of the videographer they have chosen.

But, most of all I have seen an increase in my business this year. Last year was a good year, but since the site is up and going, the late summer and fall are almost completely booked.

This site has changed my business from a struggling attempt at videography, to a respected, talked about, leading business in the East Tennessee area. Thanks so much for your help, my site is now what I have wanted it to be from the beginning. And, yes I have even updated my web site from my iPhone at a Starbucks.

Thanks so much.
Don

Santa Fe Trail Jewelry, another all WordPress e-Commerce website

June 20, 2009 by Marc Leave a Comment

While we were working on the new TrollbeadsTrail website, the store owner was also contemplating making changes to the website for her long time southwestern jewelry and accessories shop … Santa Fe Trail Jewelry. Once she saw how good the Trollbeads site looked and started adding content to it … experiencing its ease of use, she instantly wanted the same features for her other website. So out went the old Front Page and Publisher based website and in came WordPress and a premium themes.

The new Santa Fe Trail Jewelry website went live last night and there is still some work to do, but every one likes the new look better. And the search marketing potential measured more than a FIVE fold increase over the legacy site.

Here is new fresh look -

Trollbeads Trail – Complete e-Commerce site with shopping cart all in WordPress

June 19, 2009 by Marc 3 Comments

Smart small business professionals see the opportunity of being able to market and sell on the internet. Your business can have a dialog with current and potential customers 24/7/365. Of course the challenge is being noticed with all the competition on the web today. Having your website rank high enough with general search terms to actually get traffic that will convert to customers is a challenge. And if your website does not place well in organic search your website investment and monthly site costs can be sunk. The big retailers have entire IT departments to constantly do that, but what chance do small businesses have?

A very good chance with the right platform. We know that blogs can get powerful search attention, so I use WordPress as the right platform for an entire website. Amazon or Walmart and other big retail business can’t, but WordPress scales just right for small business owners. Due to their underlying program structure blogs are well recognized by search engines, so my approach has become to use a blog’s program structure for an entire website … with outstanding search marketing results.

Such was the direction a few weeks ago when I was asked to develop a new website for a jewelry and gift shop owner who has been a Trollbeads retailer for over a year with strong store sales. She wanted a site that she could manage and easily add content to, that would meet the requirements of the US Trollbeads distributor, have a complete online shopping cart system and most importantly would have a good chance of high search engine rank and resulting sales increase. Well yesterday the site was approved by the Trollbeads distributor and the site owner was able to make it live on the internet. Introducing … TrollbeadsTrail, the newest of Trollbeads retailer websites.

trollbeadstrail screencap 300x226 Trollbeads Trail Complete e Commerce site with shopping cart all in WordPress
trollbeadstrail.com

TrollbeadsTrail is an all WordPress website, even the catalog shopping cart system. I had used ZenCart in the past but wanted a catalog that would share all the theme elements of the website, so I used WP e-Commerce. In addition to shopping cart, dynamic page features, a blog with threaded comments and the rest of the features expected of a Web 2.0 website, it also includes two way Twitter account integration and more social media incorporation. All on one domain, on the same host. The operationg cost of the website with the cart is less than $25.00 a month Much less than the price of third party shopping carts like GoDaddy’s low cost shopping cart.

Plus it looks good! Please take a look and leave a comment if you wish. Anyone else want a website with a complete integrated shopping cart and excellent search page placement? The low cost could surprise you. Particularly in relationship to the great returns,

Real Estate Website SEO search engine optimization

March 8, 2009 by Marc 1 Comment
Tweet

Just yesterday, I came across a recently published article that seems to maintain that all you need for Real Estate “SEO magic” is lots of content. The author writes “I keep telling people – most of SEO is not rocket science, it’s just taking the time to think about what you have and who you want to read it.” To be fair I believe that the author knows better, but some readers seem to think that is the entire lesson in SEO and point of the article.  So, let me say that if all you have is good content, you may need magic. Successful Real Estate website SEO requires the balance of well crafted content and optimum site structure.

unbalanced Real Estate Website SEO search engine optimization

As I have written before Real Estate site content including your listings is vital, but no amount of additional content is going to help a donkey of a website get to market.

Here is a case in point. I have a new client for a real estate website, a very smart experienced guy. In 2007 he spent a good amount of money to have a website created and at the same time he spent many, many hours creating great content Over 70 pages of original, keyword rich, interesting, targeted, useful, local real estate information. And his website is virtually invisible. The content that he spent over three months creating, while in Google’s index … is inaccessible. Unread. Really, in over a year his site has received fewer than 20 visitors. Professionally developed and with great content, why? Because the structure could have hardly been worse.

In getting acquainted the new client asked me to research why his site was not working. One of my first steps is to use an SEO browser to “see” the site the way a search bot might see the site. Here is what a search bot sees as his site content, the total readable content of the home page of his website, from the search bot’s perspective.

“Your browser does not currently have IFRAME support. Please upgrade your browser to the latest version.”

That is it. No more content than that. And what potential Real Estate client might search on that? Although Google has over 80 pages of the site’s content in it’s index that is all that is available. For some reason the professional website developer choose to use javascript menus and place all the the content in what is called iframes.

balance Real Estate Website SEO search engine optimizationLike a good real estate transaction requires balancing price and terms, good real estate website search engine optimization SEO requires the balance of content and structure. Balance of the two is strength and beauty. Or real SEO magic.

If you want to see a SEO text browser view of your home page just visit http://whois.domaintools.com and enter your URL. Another useful free site evaluation tool is Hubspot’s website grader. Just enter your url and it will, after a short while, return a score and analysis report indicating the search marketing potential of your website. If your site does not score above 30, you likely have some structural website problems.

To Whom it may concern:

It is my pleasure to provide a personal recommendation for Marc Fuller. Marc is a professional whose knowledge of web design, search engine optimization and web marketing helped make my revised web site a great success. So much so that I am developing a second site with him.

Marc has an outstanding sense of design and attention to detail, and came up with the entire marketing theme and web site for me. Marc was always reliable and consistent in his work ethic and was a solid contributor to the team. He takes ownership of all his projects, and works well independently. It was truly a pleasure to work with Marc, and I have learned so much during my opportunity
to work with him.

Even though he is my brother-in-law, I give Marc and his real estate website offerings my highest recommendation.

If I can be of any further assistance, or provide you with any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
