In the last day Apple has released effective removal tools for the Flashback trojan virus. The Flashback removal tool is available in a system update version as well as a stand alone version for systems without Java installed. The tool is not the easiest link to find on the Apple website. This is just a short post to help other OS X Lion users find the tool.

By default, your Mac automatically checks for software updates every week, but you can change that setting in Software Update preferences. You can run Software Update at any time to manually check for the latest updates.

This Flashback malware removal tool removes the most common variants of the Flashback malware.
If the Flashback malware is found, a dialog will be presented notifying the user that malware was removed.
